I began to work in Yemenite Filigree at the age of six. Taught by my father, a well-known jeweler in Yemen (and after his death by my older brother) I worked in the family jewelry business for sixteen years.
After a full career in aerospace, I revitalized my ‘lost art’ recently and began prolifically producing both ancient and modern filigree designs. I also teach at several locations in Northern California, incorporating both ancient and modern tools and techniques in filigree and granulation workshops. My "Basic Yemenite Filigree" DVD is available for purchase. And, I give lectures to local jewelry organizations on the traditions and historical aspects of authentic Yemenite filigree.
